This’ll Do Forever

MUJI

Problem:
Western society seeks happiness in excess and extravagance. The relentless pursuit of more leaves people feeling empty when the excitement fades away, revealing an even bigger void to be filled.

Insight:
Studies say that happiness peaks at an income of $100K/per year while people report decreased happiness as this number increases.
It’s the little things in life that help us maintain true happiness.

Idea:
Muji is known for its simplicity, elegance, and affordability. Their less is more philosophy is incorporated into each piece of clothing, stationary, and furniture. When you pick up a Muji product, its unassuming design may make you think “this’ll do for now.” But you quickly realize that this’ll do forever.

Bought this when I got my first passport.
Second passport, 17 countries, and 4 continents later, we’re still rolling.

Our series of print ads will depict the journeys of Muji products and how they transform from an immediate necessity to an essential part of someone’s life.

She bought me this jacket after she spilled coffee on me on our first date.
We’ve been together ever since then.

She said, “Pursue it” as she gave me this pen.
So, I did. Thanks for believing in me, Mom!

These stories can be found near the UPC (barcode) on the label of each product. When the UPC is scanned, people can view other stories related to the product or share their own on the Muji Passport app.

I use my pen to doodle and study for my MCATS.

Pen
Forever with 2540 of you

I got this pen to sign my divorce papers. We never went through with it, but I still have the pen. My marriage and the pen are still going strong!

We all love an unexpected love story. For a chance to win a trip to Muji Hotel in Ginza, we will ask our followers to post their love stories that started as “this’ll do for now” to “this’ll do forever”.
